Investa Finance S.p.A. has been recently established as an ulterior operative tool of Mediacom’s activities in the important sector of the agricultural mechanization
and of the agro-alimentary transformation sector.
Investa Finance enables the expansion of the business opportunities for the client companies: it has the possibility to access SACE funding (special export funding only
available for Italian fi rms). This company is able to manage, in Russia, with a unique supply, ordering of agricultural machinery from multiple producers. This simplifi es
extremely the procedures related to the credit, transportation and customs clearance, assembly and technical assistance. |
Belagro Project
For a new agriculture in Southern Russia |
In the Krasnodar Region, in the heart of one of the principal
agricultural area of Russia, is taking place a project named
Belagro. Belagro is developing with the objective of creating an
agricultural business model, which will become a pilot centre for
the demonstration of cultivation and farming techniques.
It is a scientifi c and technological pole in which an agricultural
business has been constructed. Internally, the entire cycle of
transformation of the agro-alimentary products is realized:
cultivation, farming, fi nished product, packaging, distribution and
sales processes.
All this can happen thanks to the technologies, equipments,
machineries and plants supplied by Italian fi rms working in the
agro-alimentary sector, which then gets distributed in the Russian
market by Investa Agro. Thanks to this project, the businesses that
are involved take advantage of a winning strategy to promote
their own products in the market.
The company is located near the city of Krasnodar, in southern
Russia, on an area of 5000 hectares of agricultural ground. Entering
a valuable and diversifi ed cultivation will allow to consolidate an
autonomous production system. |
| Specialized Consultancy, commercial services
and financial tools |
At the completion of a currently unique opportunity in the Russian Federation,
the structure of Mediacom together with the fi rm Investa Agro, is able to provide
specialized consultancy, commercial services and fi nancial tools, taking advantage
of an effi cient and widespread organization supporting sales.
Thanks to the collaboration of agronomists and of Italian university tructures,
Belagro has an internal formation centre which organizes courses to prepare specialized
technicians to use the Italian agricultural machineries and it also has a
research centre for the application of new technologies in the Russian territory.
The formation centre will also allow the dialogue between the different fi gures
involved more or less directly with the project:
■ The agricultural operators, whom will have the possibility to learn new cultivation
and farming techniques and will be able to see in action the commercialized
machineries by Investa Agro;
■ The resellers and their technicians, who will acquire knowledge, based on the
functioning of the agricultural machineries and will develop the know-how
necessary for the technical assistance;
■ The fi rms that produce agricultural machineries and farming equipments will
have at their disposal a permanent show room, where it will be possible to
see the machinery working in the fi elds and will be constantly visited by agricultural
operators, resellers and specialized technicians.
The fi rms will have a unique opportunity to show to the potential clients not only
their own machines and equipments, but also the way they work and the results
achieved; key point for any type of market development. |
| Investment Opportunities
for firms |
The objective of Mediacom is to involve in the project a series of fi rms that offer,
beyond the machineries used to work the ground, even complete lines of machinery
for the agricultural and food transformation sector (packaging, production
machinery for pasta, milk transformation, meat, refrigeration, vegetable treatment,
jam, fl ours, ect) to start different production units.
The structure managed by Mediacom and by the subsidiaries will be able to guaranty
the production of raw materials necessary for the working process (fruits,
vegetables, wheat, ect), the control of the transformation process, and if requested,
the market istribution of the fi nished product (jams, oils, vegetables, fruits,
biscuits, cheeses). Mediacom is willing to allow a free usage of the ground where
the productive plant could be built, the availability or the production of raw materials
at competitive prices and the assistance in the production in exchange of a
participation in the company. The goal of this fi rst phase of the project, in addition
obviously to the construction of productive units, is to be profi table under the economic
perspective by allowing other Russian investors to view the functioning of
these transformation plants and thus be involved in ulterior development projects
in other regions and areas in Russia.

Sice Russia is a fi rm, created in collaboration with SICE Italia
with the purpose to manage directly the Russian Market. It allows
owning a store of customs cleared products, always available
in Russia; it is able to supply the small clients who are not
able to import directly; it deals with urgent requests of product
and manages the problems regarding the credit.

Force Russia distributes in the Russian market a line of equipments
for cars in private label to control a parallel distribution of
the main brands used by Mediacom.

Italtools a Russian fi rm created to promote and sell in Russia
professional tools, USAG, and other professional tools renowned
universally as high quality tools to use in mechanical offi ces.

Force Ucraina is today one of the main distributors of car equipments
in Ukraine. Created by Mediacom many years ago, it represents
today a reference point in this sector.
Fiac East is a fi rm created in collaboration with Fiac with the
purpose to commercialize compressors produced in Russia and in
Italy. This organization is in charge of the distribution, supply to
GDO, installation and assistance for industrial compressors on all
the territory of the ex USSR.

Ausonia Russia is a fi rm created together with the AUSONIA group for the commercial management, installation and technical assistance in Russia, Kazakistan and
Ukraine of large electricity generating groups.
This fi rm, of recent establishment, operates in the distribution, installation and assistance of electricity generating groups mostly destined to the sectors of telecommunication,
oil & gaz, large industrial plants and small energy distribution plants.

Franchising YamamaY

|
Parallel to the representation activity, Mediacom is also in charge of trading in the Fashion sector, thanks to a new project of franchised stores in the Russian Federation. In
2005, Mediacom made an agreement with YamamaY, a well known Italian brand of underclothes for women, and the inauguration of the fi rst two stores, one in Krasnodar
and the other one in Rostov, happened between August and November 2005.
Thanks to the agreement, Mediacom established a dedicated fi rm that manages the entire business of YamamaY in the Russian Federation, and follows directly:
▪ The whole process of merchandise import including the re-labelling according to
the Russian norms.
▪ The logistical operations and storage at the store in Moscow
▪ The marketing and communication activities supporting the commercial
activities (inauguration events, press conferences, promotional and advertising
campaigns)

Opening program and advertising campaign:

The development of the network of franchised stores YamamaY predicts for the next
3 months, the opening of more or less 10 stores every year in the main Russian cities
with at least 500 000 inhabitants. As a support to the opening of new stores and to
promote the YamamaY brand in the territory, an advertising campaign is expected
in the main Fashion magazines (Glamour, Offi ciel, Vogue, Cosmopolitan), a radio
broadcast campaign, street posters and specifi c initiatives in the local transportation
network in the cities in which the stores are located. |

Franchising Mediacom

In the future programs of the fi rm, we foresee the possibility to create a true area that will allow the implementation of the model
already used for YamamaY, a franchise in many sectors.
Implementing the model of the Master Franchising, it is possible to standardize the operations necessary for the opening of
franchises in different sectors. The model foresees that the franchisor, or headquarter offi ce, gives to the master franchisee,
the licence holder, the right to operate with the brand name, the techniques and the know how in a well defi ned and bounded
geographical area. The franchisor puts at the disposal of the franchisee the instruction and the operative support necessary in order
that the stores have the peculiar characteristics requested from the headquarter offi ce. At this point, the licence holder works at
establishing a network of sub franchisee in the area of competence.
It is relevant to know that to start a franchising project, it is not necessary to open exclusively unique brand stores. Depending of
the products and of the brand, it is possible to create corners in the internal sales point already existing. |
